Overview ”Observation of a phosphor for white LED with Ultra Variable-pressure Detector(UVD)”

Cross section of a resin-embedded white LED was made with a diamond knife and observed using Schottky Field Emission SEM. While BSE image showed both particle A and B, UVD (Ultra Variable-pressure Detector) image visualized only particle A. Since UVD detects light signal, particle A is considered phosphor particle emitting light (cathode luminescence) excited by electron beam irradiation.
